The present article deals with folklore art in Uzbekistan, particularly, its origin, types o f folklore genre, and their distinctive features. Folk art is the historical basis o f the entire world artistic culture, a source o f national artistic traditions, and a way o f expressing national identity. Folk literature is, however, not merely a carrier o f cultural values; rather, it is also an expression o f self-reflection. It serves as a platform to hold high moral ground without any relevance to present day reality.
